2008 Fall Membership Drive
When women get together, amazing things can happen. And that's just what the American Business Women's Association is all about - women joining forces to further themselves both professionally and personally to amazing proportions. Not only do our members get the inside track on the issues facing their local communities, but they also are plugged into the trends and events that drive today's national businesses.
Succeeding today is all about what you know, who you know and who knows you. And if you want to be successful, ABWA can give you the upper hand. It’s all wrapped up in professional development, networking, local and national recognition, resources and key relationships with businesses.
Professional Development
Knowledge is power. And businesswomen need a resource they can turn to for information about a wide variety of topics. They also need to know how to use that information to benefit themselves or their employers.
ABWA relies on a variety of resources to create professional development programming for our members, such as:
- Leadership programs
- Business skills training
- Continuing education certificate programs
Networking
Creating a network of business-savvy professionals is one of the skill sets women need to get ahead. Plus, when you join an ABWA chapter or network, you automatically become a member of a ready-made professional network!
Recognition
By its very nature, recognition is loaded with positive reinforcement. It is an essential component of career development - whether the recognition is on the job or through your professional association.
With ABWA, you can earn that resume-enhancing pat on the back in several ways.
-
Each year, local chapters and networks honor members who make significant accomplishments in education, leadership, and professional and civic activities.
-
-
If you aspire to a leadership role, all members in good standing are eligible to run for local or national office. Nothing is more impressive on a resume than a successful history as an elected representative.
Please submit the new members application below. We appreciate your membership and we look forward to a long lasting relationship as we help other members become leaders and be more involved in our community.
Please notice that we also accept men in our Chapter! They can also help us unite and become more successful. New Member Application & Instructions
The Membership Committee has created the following instructions in hopes they will help to facilitate the process of joining our chapter.
Two applications will need to be completed and submitted with your payment.
One check and/or credit card payment for both local dues ($28 per year) and national dues ($75 per year) may be made payable to New Roc ABWA ($103 total).
After joining we request that you arrive 15-30 minutes early before your first monthly meeting. This “welcome session” is for new members to receive additional instruction regarding membership. You will receive a bonus ticket for our door prize drawing by attending.
New members are required to attend an orientation session. Orientation will be held two times a year, one in February (currently a catered lunch at Remington House) and the other in August in conjunction with our Chapter Expo, held at our regular meeting location. Look for information in our newsletter prior to these events. We encourage your sponsor to attend one orientation session with you.
Return both applications with payment(s) to Membership Committee Co-Chair:
